Construction of forty-six independent living apartments, spread across three buildings plus cottages around a village green, has been completed by specialist design and build partner Castleoak for Charters Village, an age-exclusive retirement community in East Grinstead, West Sussex.

What this means is a greater range of living options for those who are retired or close to retiring, an influx of new Charters residents who will boost the local economy by supporting local businesses, as well as future job opportunities for people interested in working for a retirement village.

A pond and extensive landscaping complete the project, which was handed over in October 2016. This is the second multi-million pound phase of development for Charters, which originally opened in early 2014. The properties are selling quickly and a number of residents have already moved in.

Those buying homes at Charters benefit from the communal facilities offered in the clubhouse in Charters Towers. These include a lounge, bar, restaurant / bistro, shop, library, conservatory and meeting rooms.

“As market specialists, we’re working closely with Charters’ operator Retirement Villages to deliver high quality retirement housing,” says James Player, Construction Director at Castleoak. “Our close partnership means we are continually refining the build specification to deliver the very best,” he added.

Charters’ Village Manager Nigel Walter is delighted: “It is with great pleasure that we can finally take the wraps off our new development and welcome the first of what I am sure will be many new residents into their new homes.

“Charters is a wonderful, community-driven place to live so do come and look round if you are over 65 and interested in the retirement village lifestyle.”
