REL goes back to school with latest contract win @RELBuildService

Strengthening its reputation in the education sector, REL has been appointed to deliver electrical services for a new school in Ilford near East London.

Starting on site in September 2017, the contract forms part of the construction of Al Noor Primary School, the first Muslim faith school in the Redbridge area. The contemporary three-storey building will replace the existing school and an adjacent pub, creating a facility which will increase capacity to 420 children and 35 staff. Facilities include new play areas on the ground floor and roof deck.

The project follows REL’s successful handover of the electrical works at Woodford County High School for Girls in Essex.

Toby Buckley, REL’s managing director said: “We worked closely with the project team during the very early stages of this project, developing a design using Level 2 BIM prior to being awarded the contract.

“This early engagement has resulted in the most appropriate and effective electrical design which will save time and improve efficiency during the installation stage.”

Kier Construction is the main contractor for the project and Kershaw Mechanical Services selected REL for the electrical works.

REL’s expertise in the education sector has seen it pick up a string of contracts for schools and colleges in the South East with 15 completed in the last three years.
