A Willenhall company is celebrating after its investment in the health, wellbeing and skills of young people across the region saw it play a fundamental role in the opening of a dedicated facility.
BE Wedge Holdings, the holding company of Wedge Group Galvanizing which has 14 plants across the UK, donated £100,000 towards the construction of The Way, which in its first year had over 4,500 young people registered from across the region. The investment has played a key role in providing youngsters with opportunities, a safe place to socialise, and access to support and guidance.
Jeremy Woolridge, Chairman and CEO of BE Wedge Holdings, explained: “As soon as I attended the Wigan Youth Zone and learnt about the plans to open one here in Wolverhampton, I was immediately on board with involving Wedge in the development.
“Our support helped specifically towards the build and it is wonderful to see it flourishing over 12 months on, providing young people with career support and guidance, sports facilities and equipment, and much more. We’re immensely proud to see just how they and their families have benefited from The Way, and the generosity of organisations and individuals from across the region in getting this amazing project off the ground.”
The Wedge Group Galvanizing team has attended various events at The Way Youth Zone, with Jeremy himself recently presenting an award for their Young Person Awards as well as sharing career advice to young people finishing full-time education. The Way team is currently helping over 1100 young people every week, many of which are undertaking GSCEs A-Levels exams.
