Smart Buildings Show 2018: The role of the Facilities Manager is changing!

The role of the facilities manager in specifying, implementing and managing a smart building cannot be underestimated. The conference at Smart Buildings Show, which takes place at the Barbican London on the 7-8 November 2018, will deliver cutting edge insight into what the FM’s role will be in the future and how technology is rapidly changing the landscape.
One of the key speakers at the conference will be Peter Brogan, head of research and insights at BIFM. His presentation, “The role of the FM in smart buildings”, looks at how tech can transform workplace productivity but also the ever changing world of FM. Peter is an influential research specialist with unique experience and a sustained record of success in both the public and private sectors. He has extensive background within diverse service organisations, managing complex research projects from inception to completion. As head of research and insight he manages the delivery and development of the BIFM’s research and content activities.

Also speaking during the show will be Julian Watson, Senior Principal Analyst, IoT at IHS Markit. Julian is the senior principal analyst of Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity research at IHS Markit.

He is responsible for analyzing IoT technologies, applications and business models. His presentation, Smart Buildings: Trends with Platforms and Integrations, will offer insights into market opportunities for BMS platform providers and the market barriers that are limiting the adoption of this technology in buildings today. In addition, Julian will analyze technological trends impacting BMS platforms, including data processing alternatives on the cloud and the edge.
