Bovis Homes, the FTSE 250 listed housebuilder, has announced plans to build a new £195m development of 725 homes in Twigworth, Gloucester.
The development will include 471 private units ranging from two to four-bedroom houses from the company’s new Phoenix range. In addition, 254 units will be provided as affordable housing, including one and two-bed apartments and two to four-bed homes. Within the location, Bovis Homes will also build a number of facilities to support the local community. As part of its section 106 financial contributions of £7.62m, it will provide nursery, primary and secondary education as well as on and off-site sports and leisure facilities. It will also make highway improvements including the funding and provision of footpaths and public transport.
Mark Slater, land director at Bovis Homes, said: “We are excited to have the opportunity to bring our Phoenix collection to this attractive and convenient location.
“Local house hunters, whether they are searching on the private market or through affordable housing providers, will benefit from a wide choice of stunning homes, as well as a strong sense of community, with a school, games area and playing field all planned on site – and all within a popular, easy-to-reach location.
“The range – from one-bed apartments to four-bed houses – means the development will appeal to a wide range of people at different stages of their home searching journey.
“The construction of the homes will also create jobs and generate an economic boost for years to come.”
Construction has already begun on a new roundabout on the A38 to service the development. This work should be completed by the end of the year and the site is currently being prepared for construction, with house building due to start in spring 2020, with the first occupations later in the year.
The first homes from the Phoenix collection were launched around the country earlier this year. The range consists of 28 brand-new Bovis Homes house types. The new specification includes adaptability for disabled people, such as wider corridors and doors, as well as higher ceilings and an increase in square footage of homes by reducing the number of bay windows. houses were designed with a modern lifestyle in mind, including open-plan living areas and along with the many benefits for Bovis Homes customers, the range also offers improved build efficiency and a reduction in costs.
The Twigworth development will occupy a greenfield site that has historically been used for farming. To the south of the site is an existing watercourse known as Hatherley Brook and the location is accessed directly off the A38. The site is located within the administrative area of Tewkesbury Borough Council and is two miles north of Gloucester City Centre and Gloucester Quays.
