Exyte Hargreaves has appointed David Ayling as its Technical Manager within SFS (Smoke and Fire Safety) business unit, following a 30-year career in various roles within the smoke industry.
During these 30 years, David has worked across a number of key disciplines including the design and manufacture of multiple smoke and environmental control systems and ventilation projects, having partnered with a variety of leading Architects, M&E consultants and Contractors from across the UK.
During his time, David was instrumental in delivering multiple major engineering projects, including the 2012 Olympic Village development. As part of his role, he commissioned and installed multiple smoke and environmental ventilation systems into athletes’ residential blocks, which have then gone on to protect thousands of social housing and private tenants living in Stratford, London.
SFS offers clients an end-to-end package in the specification and delivery of both natural and mechanical smoke control systems, owning every step in the supply chain, from design and manufacturing through to installation and commission. SFS wish to offer the client the opportunity to go to one company for all the smoke control systems from including fire rated ducted systems instead of the traditional way of splitting systems up now they can be handed over to one company, with one responsibility.
Talking of his new appointment, David said: “As an electrical engineer, my focus has always been on the detail of smoke and ventilation systems, ensuring they offer the highest quality solutions possible. Being involved in the delivery of these products and systems, in such a highly regulated and specification-led industry, brings its challenges but I have always strived to ensure those vitally important standards are met across the life safety industry.
“I’m pleased to have joined Exyte Hargreaves and look forward to working with its highly skilled workforce. Exyte Hargreaves’ approach of providing an end-to-end package in specification and delivery is a unique one and long overdue within the industry and it’s exciting to be involved from the start.”
Andy Sneyd at Exyte Hargreaves, said: “David brings to Exyte Hargreaves an unrivalled amount of expertise in the fields of smoke ventilation and environmental control. When we opted to step into this arena, we created a strategy which would see us recruit the best talent in the sector and upskill the wealth of quality engineers we already have working with us. This is another step in that process.
There is no doubt that David will be instrumental in us being able to saturate the market with our smoke safety and ventilation products and solutions, and we look forward to having him on board as we work together to build a prosperous future for Exyte Hargreaves.”
