tbf Traffic, a leading traffic management company and part of the RSK group, has today (4 May) opened two new depots in Dereham, Norfolk and South Mimms, Hertfordshire.
The new staffed sites will give tbf Traffic better access to Norfolk via the A47, and to London and southern England via the M25 ring road.
The business, which provides a complete traffic-management service, from planning through to installation, already has premises at Needham Market in Suffolk and operates across the UK.
Each new depot will have its own fleet of vehicles and a dedicated team of planners and schedulers. Each site also has the means to create bespoke signage. The South Mimms depot boasts a container for battery charging, where vehicles can easily dock and recharge equipment, significantly increasing efficiency.
Leading the way
With the expansion comes new job roles, as each location will be headed up by a depot manager. Alec Smith will continue to lead the established Needham Market depot; Andy Stiff, who has been promoted into this new role, will take the helm at the Dereham site; and the newly appointed Tim Wright will run South Mimms. All three depots will be supported by Pete Ryland, tbf Traffic’s Business Manager.
Tim Wright said, “I am thrilled to be joining tbf Traffic at such an exciting time. My previous roles have allowed me to build up significant and relevant experience of traffic management, particularly in the London area. I aim to use my skills and expertise to increase tbf Traffic’s presence within South Mimms and the surrounding areas.”
New opportunities
Opening the new depots has enabled further traffic management business opportunities with longstanding key clients Anglian Water @One Alliance and UK Power Networks.
“This exciting development highlights the growth of the business and the hard work and dedication of the tbf Traffic team,” commented Darren Clark, Director of tbf Traffic. “Even in the face of a difficult year, owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, our people have risen to all challenges.
“The new depots will strengthen our efficiency in working within these locations and will enable us to develop our partnerships further in these postcode areas.
“I congratulate Andy on his promotion to head of the Dereham depot and I am pleased to welcome Tim to our team. It is set to be a very exciting 2021 for tbf Traffic.”
Streamlined technology
All staff will use the newly introduced, tablet-based MyMobileWorkers app, to help interconnect home, field and satellite working.
This new platform streamlines work processes from start to finish, enabling real-time insights from staff members, wherever they are working.
The app minimises paperwork, strengthens tbf’s safety and compliance procedures and enforces checks and balances. It offers access to GPS data, which lets the team calculate the fastest routes to their jobs, and analyses efficiencies and areas for improvement.
Relevant information can be shared with tbf clients, further bolstering the traffic management firm’s reputation for transparency.
