GROUPE ATLANTIC WELCOMES LORD CALLANAN TO STATE-OF-THE-ART MANUFACTURING FACILITY IN HULL

To mark its £60m investment programme to further develop innovative low carbon technologies, Global heating industry leader, Groupe Atlantic UK, Republic of Ireland and North America, was delighted to welcome Lord Callanan, Minister for Energy Efficiency and Green Finance, to its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Hull on Friday 4th August.

The visit by Lord Callanan was in recognition of the vital role Groupe Atlantic play in the heating industry’s green transition and was a welcomed opportunity for the company to showcase its huge investment in UK manufacturing, innovation, research and development, and training opportunities.

On arrival at the Hull site, Lord Callanan took the time to meet apprentices and watch technicians working on the latest heat pump production lines before officially opening the new National Training and Technician Centre, assisted by Shaun Edwards, CEO of Groupe Atlantic UK, Republic of Ireland and North America.

Shaun Edwards, CEO of Groupe Atlantic UK, Republic of Ireland and North America, said:

“The major investments we’re making at our Hull site send out a very clear signal about our commitment to the net zero transition and to re-modelling our business to meet the needs of our customers today and into the future. The transition to low carbon heating solutions, including heat pumps, is the biggest transformation in the business since we moved from coal to gas-fired boilers in the 1930s”.

The new multi million pound investment programme will allow for an expanded distribution hub, a research and development centre to pioneer the heating technologies of the future, and a heat pump manufacturing facility. It will enable Groupe Atlantic to further diversify its product portfolio and push forward with a range of innovative low carbon technologies, such as heat pumps and hydrogen boilers, which will play an ever an ever-growing role in heating the UK’s buildings.

Groupe Atlantic’s UK, Republic of Ireland and North America division is the market leader in commercial and domestic heating across Europe and its commercial brands include Ideal Heating Commercial Products, Hamworthy, ACV and Keston. Based in Hull, the Groupe Atlantic manufacturing plant has an 800-strong workforce, with a total of around 1,500 staff employed across all brands within the UK.

Reinforcing Groupe Atlantic’s well-established credentials, the latest investment programme will enable the brands to significantly expand its product portfolio of low-carbon products for the future and pave the way for a more sustainable and greener future.
