Grand Designs Live Partners with FMB for National Renovation Week, to Encourage Education and Creativity Across All Renovations

Grand Designs Live, along with the Federation of Master Builders (FMB), are pleased to announce the debut of National Renovation Week 2019 from the 7 – 13 October. Throughout the week Grand Designs Live will host a series of events celebrating, promoting and educating visitors on renovation as a route to creating their dream home.

National Renovation Week, will link with Grand Designs Live, to see a variety of talks, headed up by Kevin McCloud, featuring advice from experts in renovation and first-hand experiences from designers and home-owners who have refurbished homes, from Grade III listed mansions, to modern townhouses, to 1970s bathrooms and beyond. In addition, one to one expert advice sessions focusing on Renovations will take place throughout the show on weekdays, including topics covering everything from retrofitting a kitchen, to modernising a bathroom, to bringing a home’s fixtures and fittings up to date.

In line with the premiere of the brand-new series of Grand Designs, National Renovation week will inspire those looking to improve, progress and develop existing homes, into their very own Grand Designs.

The questions and processes surrounding renovations vary wildly from project to project, depending on a range of factors, from the age and preservation status of a property, to the extent of planned extensions and/or renovations. The FMB, along with Grand Designs Live are hoping to educate visitors on some of the most frequently undertaken renovations, and answer some of the most commonly asked questions when it comes to renovations.

Brian Berry, Chief Executive of the Federation of Master Builders (FMB), said: ‘The UK’s housing repair, maintenance and improvement sector is worth £28.5bn a year and is the third largest construction sector. The FMB is delighted to be a part of National Renovation Week, which will help promote this vital part of the industry. We’re keen to help ensure consumers get the most out of their home improvement projects and help them avoid any potential pitfalls.’

Richard Morey, Managing Director for Grand Designs Live, said of the collaboration; ‘We are excited to be working with such an esteemed organisation as the Federation of Master Builders, to educate our visitors on all manner of renovations as well as provide inspiration for home improvements of their own throughout the show’.

The show also launches the Home Renovation Clinic to give visitors the opportunity to speak to expert members of the Federation of Master Builders about their upcoming home projects. Located within the popular Ask an Expert area of the show, this unique element offers visitors the opportunity to ask quick questions and discuss project plans, without having to make a one-to-one appointment. Visitors can learn about the processes and preparations required for renovation, addition and refurbishment success and see that with the right advice, and careful forward planning, it is perfectly possible to stick to a budget, and realise a dream home.
