Bowthorpe Developments Limited, part of Bowthorpe Group, is nearing completion of its first housing development ‘The Meadows’ in North Scarle, Lincolnshire.
To connect with the local community, the new access road to The Meadows has been named after a stalwart of the village, Barbara Wells MBE, who sadly died suddenly last year aged 83. Barbara devoted her life to all aspects of life in North Scarle, supporting the very young to more senior members, including saving the local primary school – North Scarle School – from closure in 1982. She was awarded an MBE in 1997 as recognition of her services to education and the community.
Due to be completed in a few weeks’ time, the development will consist of seven executive detached four-bed and two semi-detached homes. The two smaller units have been designed as affordable properties and have priority eligibility for couples and young families who want to stay in North Scarle or move back to be closer to relatives.
All houses at The Meadows, located on one of the routes into North Scarle, will benefit from high levels of insulation, energy efficient air source heat pumps providing hot water and underfloor heating, which contribute to B rated energy efficiency and environmental impact (CO2) rating.
Bowthorpe Group is a new property development company born from the experience of its two directors Chris Wild and Rick Nicholls. The company was set up in 2018 and focuses on providing quality new homes within Lincolnshire.
Rick Nicholls said: “We believe it’s important to integrate new housing and complement the vernacular. Investing in rural communities can be challenging but consideration needs to be given for the new houses and their residents to have a connection to the village, so we are delighted we are able to honour Barbara in this way. Her memory lives on in the community through the thriving, well respected primary school, enabling the next generations of North Scarle to be educated within the village. We’re proud to extend her legacy within our new development.
“We want to select small handpicked locations for our developments, rather than large high-density estates, in areas where people want to live but importantly add value to the area. These are typically rural village locations which need specific considerations which are quite different from building large scale projects in towns or cities.”
David Russell, Chairman of North Scarle Parish Council, has been involved with the project throughout, taking a great interest in the project and the considerations undertaken as part of the build. He was pleased the new road will be named Wells Close and Barbara recognised permanently within the community.
Chris said: “Ordinarily, members of the community or those looking to return may not be able to consider living in North Scarle, as the normal housing stock would be beyond their reach. We are therefore very happy we can provide homes as part of The Meadows development to facilitate this. Bowthorpe Group works with landowners in differing ways to help maximise the value that can be achieved from individual developments and we’re pleased we’re nearing completion of our first development.”
Craig Stones, branch manager of Pygott & Crone said “Having successfully sourced this land in North Scarle for Bowthorpe Developments Ltd, it has been a real pleasure to continue our relationship with this forward thinking, highly efficient developer who is committed to delivering high quality homes for our local market. One of the major challenges when selling new home is often the delay in build completion, but buyers at The Meadows can be assured that Bowthorpe is not only committed to high build quality but also delivering on timescales as promised.”
Currently, detailed studies are being undertaken for potential future sites in Holten Le Clay, Sleaford, Conningsby, Stickney and North Scarle.
An open day is scheduled for 30th November 10am – 4pm to showcase the development. For all information relating to the open day and other development enquiries please contact Pygott & Crone on 01522 56140 or [email protected]
