The Federation of Piling Specialists (FPS) has announced plans to produce a series of podcasts and webinars, aimed at providing a more engaging communications channel for its members.
Being launched in May 2020, the podcasts will be directed primarily at those working in the piling and geotechnical industry, although depending on the topic, they will also be of interest to other key stakeholders such as clients, consultants and regulatory bodies as appropriate.
Topics planned include Federation updates, recently published or updated guidance as well as including personal profiles of key people in the sector, interesting or tricky project case studies and any timely ‘hot topics’ as they arise. There are also plans to include invited guests to contribute occasionally to the podcasts who would be able to bring a specific area of expertise and insight to the FPS audience and would be interviewed on their topic.
Webinars will take a slightly different format being offered in real-time, with a more educational approach to topics. Participants will be able to interact with those presenting to dig deeper into topics, as well as add their own experiences to the discussions. Topics pencilled in already include, harm reduction, occupational health, learning and development, in addition to exploring some of the Federation’s achievements to-date and how they can be built upon or expanded such as working platforms, site conditions and even commercial good practices.
Speaking about the podcast and webinar plans FPS Chair, Steve Hadley said: “Like all of us, we take our information from many different sources, but also in many different formats. Including podcasts and webinars into the Federation’s communications mix will help the FPS further extend its reach, as well as providing timely information, advice and guidance to members and stakeholders in a format that may be more convenient and accessible to them.”
