Established Multidisciplinary firm HDR appoints Director Richard Papworth, as the company aims to strengthen its team and expand within the UK and International markets
HDR is expanding its team with the addition of Director Richard Papworth, who will be based in both Kingston and London.
At HDR Richard is responsible for coordinating multidisciplinary civil and structural engineering projects, strengthening the already experienced Civil and Structural Engineering team at HDR, with the vision of expanding the team to pick up more of the market share.
Richard has nearly 25 years’ experience in the built environment, having spent time working in the UK, Australia, and Ireland.
Richard brings a wealth of experience to his position at HDR, having previously had the opportunity to work on a variety of challenging projects in his previous Director level role, which enhanced his knowledge in designing and constructing buildings in a variety of materials and construction techniques. Having worked on several developer-led projects in the commercial sector; Richard established a reputation for himself and earned respect in the industry.
The variety of projects he has worked on including, office, hotel, residential, student accommodation and mixed-use development schemes, have strengthened his technical and commercial skills that he obtained early in his career.
Richard has worked on many UK and International projects from conception to completion, allowing him to develop relationships with key clients, to secure repeat business.
Richard’s management and leadership skills have allowed him to be successful in managing multidiscipline project teams and being the main point on contact for many clients. He sees that there are many advantages to clients and design teams in taking a multidiscipline approach when appropriate to a project.
He takes a proactive leadership approach to design, looking at options in different materials to allow the structure to inform the architecture while considering the sustainability (Net Zero Carbon), cost and constructability.
