The end of subsidies for China Offshore Wind in 2021 means that the industry in the area will need to become more competitive, by reducing their overall costs in coming years. Irish engineering consultancy Gavin and Doherty Geosolutions has been appointed to assist a major client in China carry out various research projects relating to offshore wind foundations – with particular reference to these financial implications.
The research projects will include GDG’s assistance in foundation design, as well as their support in implementing the advanced and well-established design methodology already used in the Europe. Projects will also include a review of the client’s design provision and recommendations to optimise all project plans.
GDG’s Asia Pacific Director Ting Sie Chui said “China has the largest offshore wind capacity, and it will keep growing in coming years. We are excited to be getting the opportunity to work with this prestigious Chinese client.”
