COGNICA receive top feedback on site scan project

RSK company COGNICA are celebrating after receiving excellent feedback from Welsh Water for their recent work on a site scan.

The information management solutions company collaborated with Welsh Water after they sought COGNICA’s advice to ascertain the potential benefits of using 3D point cloud technology to map its treatment plants.

With vast previous experience in the field, COGNICA started work on the project in Duffryn Isaf, creating a 3D point cloud containing data for one of Welsh Water’s treatments works.

This enabled their digital officers to investigate the benefits of using 360° surveys to support their works operating manual.

COGNICA’s scan is to become part of an Innovation project to showcase the potential for wider adoption in Welsh Water, and the data would also be used as part of the company’s incident reporting programme, encouraging employees to tag and raise issues easily in an intuitive but visually distinguishable manner.

The scan prompted positive feedback, and Welsh Water now believe these site scans are the way forward in promoting modernization within their company.

Melissa Quarterman, COGNICA’s account manager, said: “This is fantastic feedback from our initial scan with Welsh Water and has shown the value that they are receiving in innovation and we are looking forward to working with them on future scans.”

COGNICA are also completing Insite360 scans on wastewater treatment sites at Southern Water, on behalf of a joint venture between Galliford Try and Binnies.
