More award success for RoC Consulting

RSK company RoC Consulting’s work on the RHS Garden Bridgewater project has been recognised at a glittering awards ceremony in Manchester.

Members of RoC Consulting’s design team accompanied RHS Capital Project Manager North John Pye to pick up the prestigious accolade, as RHS Garden Bridgewater’s Welcome Building was named Greater Manchester Building of the Year 2021 at the Greater Manchester Chamber’s Property and Construction Awards.

It was the first time in three years that the awards dinner, held at Manchester’s Victoria Warehouse, was able to take place because of the pandemic, which made the occasion extra special.

Diane Elebert-Morgan, Property & Construction Group Manager at Greater Manchester Chamber, said: “We had an impressive list of buildings on the shortlist for both years, which shows how vibrant and talented the construction sector is in Greater Manchester.

“We were not only celebrating the winning buildings but also the resilience of the sector over the past two difficult years. We can hopefully now look forward to a brighter future, as the economy starts to recover from the pandemic and we see progress on the many great developments that are being planned for the city centre and across Greater Manchester.”

RHS Garden Bridgewater is the fifth RHS garden and one of the largest gardening projects undertaken in Europe in recent years.

The new world-class visitor centre, known as the Welcome Building, provides a gateway to the gardens, as well as a visitor meeting and interaction point, restaurant, gift shop, offices and educational spaces.

RHS is currently pioneering a social-prescribing project to support the local community’s wellbeing. An RHS therapeutic gardener is leading a programme to support the local community’s wellbeing in a unique role that recognises the connection between gardening and better health.
