Tensar International is a world-leading manufacturer and provider of subgrade stabilisation and soil reinforcement solutions, designed to overcome common ground engineering problems in construction and civil engineering.
Tensar is proud to announce the launch of their Next Generation Solutions. The launch event was themed around a ‘Black Box’ format which was generated following customer feedback asking Tensar to be more transparent.
The Tensar Black Box included three key elements A new Design Methodology – LAAMS, Tensar+ Design Software and a brand-new product – Tensar InterAx® geogrid – the latest and most advanced form of geosynthetic stabilisation on the market, with applications in road foundations, pavement layers and other trafficked areas
Work from 12 global teams and over 10,000 hours of R&D have been invested in the Tensar InterAx® geogrid, resulting in better value and cost savings than all previous Tensar geogrids. Its optimised geometry results in improved confinement of granular fill and creates a more efficient stabilised layer. It can therefore be used with a wider range and quality of aggregate types and gradations than other options.
Benefits include improved traffic capacity of unpaved roads, reduced road thickness, reduced construction costs and last – but certainly not least – a reduced carbon footprint.
Speaking about the launch of the next generation geogrid, Richard Abell – Regional Director, UK & Ireland – said: “After years of hard work from the team, it was extremely exciting to finally unveil Tensar’s Black Box, which features Tensar InterAx® geogrids, Tensar Design Methodology and the Tensar+ Design software, at the Building Centre in London.”
The product has been used on several projects over recent months. One key success was Blockley temporary haul road, constructed across arable farmland with low strength subgrade. Tensar’s InterAx geogrid delivered a 32% reduction in construction cost, 1.2 days reduction in construction time and 47% (9,920kgCO2e) reduction in environmental cost.
