Located in Raffles City Mall, This Begins Humanscale’s Retail Vision in China’s Internet Capital
Humanscale, the leading manufacturer of high-performance ergonomic solutions, is piloting a standalone retail concept in Raffles City Mall, located in Hangzhou, China. Raffles City Mall is a renowned shopping and lifestyle mixed-use destination creating a sustainable urban hub in one of China’s most picturesque cities. The official grand opening took place on November 17th with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate this new step in Humanscale’s retail ecosystem. The 1,221 square-foot space is adjacent to tech giants such as Dell, Alibaba, ASUS, and Lenovo, positioning Humanscale to resonate within a high-tech, design-focused community.
As the company’s first Chinese retail concept, this location features Humanscale’s entire range of products, each thoughtfully designed to optimize health, comfort, and sustainability. The space, designed by Humanscale in collaboration with Ruperiti Design and DDL, is an ode to design for life, work, and the earth. In line with Hangzhou’s growing importance as a hub for technological innovation and sustainability, the new store is inspired by Humanscale’s design approach of function, simplicity, longevity, and sustainability. The majority of the store’s components are manufactured in a dedicated facility and later installed to minimize on-site waste.
“Piloting this concept in Raffles City Mall signifies a new chapter for Humanscale. This isn’t just a store; it’s meant to connect ergonomic design and sustainability with a tech-focused audience in one of China’s innovation hubs,” says Heather Fennimore, President of Humanscale. “It also serves as a starting point for future retail expansion, as we look to bring our approach to ergonomic well-being to more markets globally.”
This opening in Raffles City Mall represents a significant transformation from Humanscale’s traditional showroom design towards an expanding retail-focused consumer base. The company plans to roll out similar retail projects worldwide, each embodying the spirit of ergonomic innovation and sustainability. This transition underscores Humanscale’s broader ambitions to not only lead in the commercial sector but to become a global brand and household name.
