Alex O’dell, Vice President GB&I, VELUX Group:
“VELUX welcomes the Government’s Autumn Budget, and particularly the steps to ensure more people have access to safe and affordable housing through the £5 billion investment in housing supply, including £500 million to support the Affordable Homes Programme.
For the health and wellbeing of residents, it is vital that new homes are built to high standards with sustainability and energy efficiency in mind. Additionally, the announcement of £1.4 billion to rebuild crumbling schools is a positive step forward for the education sector. Communities need high quality homes, and children need appropriate physical environments to assist their learning and support their education.
We urge the construction sector to adhere to the Government’s pledges to improve infrastructure and support householders and children. It is essential that buildings are designed to promote a healthy indoor climate, with proper ventilation and suitable access to natural daylight.”
