Dura Deck Composite Timber Decking has been selected for a dramatic viewing platform at the Sandown Ski Centre in Esher, Surrey. The composite decking in Type 225 Charcoal from Dura Composites was chosen by experienced landscaping contractor, The London Decking Company for their client the Sandown Ski Centre, in recognition of its eco-friendly properties, heavy duty performance and low maintenance requirements.
The Sandown Ski Centre caters for both beginners and experienced pros and is famed for its steep slope and excellent views of the surrounding countryside, including the ability to catch a glimpse of the horse racing on race days. The site has a number of different facilities including squash courts and a well-equipped gym offering general fitness programmes, personal training and a range of aerobic activities such as yoga and boxercise.
The London Decking Company was selected to carry out a number of projects at the site, including replacing the degraded existing timber terrace with a heavy duty, long lasting composite deck surrounded by steel balustrading, as well as constructing a new ski jump. The new composite Dura Deck comes with a 10 year warranty and has an expected design life of 25 years.
Dura Deck Type 225 Charcoal composite timber decking was chosen for the viewing terrace on the basis of its suitability for high traffic areas and for its excellent environmentally friendly properties.
The Dura Deck composite timber decking range is available in 4 different designs and colours. As well as being ‘barefoot friendly’ and suitable for domestic use on terraces and balconies, Dura Deck is ideal for commercial businesses such as Hotels, Pubs, Holiday Parks and Theme Park walkways, where long term durability and safety are important factors.
Dura Deck is strong, durable and looks and feels just like natural wood. Its unique formula provides a longer lasting decking that is easy to install and requires minimal maintenance. The range is 100% Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC©) certified and is manufactured from up to 87% recycled materials making it the eco-friendly choice.
The Type 225 board used at the Sandown Ski Centre is available in Charcoal or Teak colours and has a grooved profile on one side and a smooth timber grain effect finish on the reverse, allowing the installer and end client to choose the best finish for their needs.
