PJ Edwards Expands its UK Operation

Underlining its commitment to its continuous growth strate, leading UK piling contractor PJ Edwards UK has embarked on the relocation of its operational premises, a move which coincides with its recent completion of the purchase of the former City Link Depot in Scunthorpe.

When complete the new 1 acre plot, which is located at Bessemer Way, North East of the City Centre, will be home to PJ Edwards’ new offices as well as providing storage for its plant – replacing its existing yard and offices in Doncaster where the Company has been based for the last 3 years.

The new facility brings a number of advantages, not least of which being the capacity to store all plant and equipment – including 11 Rotary Bored and CFA piling rigs, owned by PJ Edwards – in one centralised location. This common location for all plant will greatly enhance the Company’s ability to mobilise rigs and other equipment, which reduces costs and these subsequent savings can be passed onto clients when factoring in mobilisation costs at tender stage.

Speaking about the expansion Martin Kenwright, Managing Director of PJ Edwards UK, said “The move from leased premises to owning our own buildings has been part of our overall business strategy for some years and we’re delighted to be at a point in our operations where we are able to purchase our own premises and relocate operations to a more convenient location”.

Kenwright continued  “Our projects span a wide geographical area, which means we can be working at opposite ends of the country – from Taunton to Perth – at any one time, so having our plant stored in a central location improves both logistics and speed of deployment, as well as reducing average costs. There’s no doubt that we will be far more efficient upon completion of this move”.
