BW, one of the UK’s premier fit out and refurbishment experts is delighted to announce that 330 Holborn Gate has been awarded a SKA Gold rating. BW was responsible for the 50-‐week refurbishment of this occupied 1960s building in the Heart of Chancery Lane, to deliver a contemporary design by architect BuckleyGray Yeoman that offers functional and spacious work areas finished to an exceptional standard.
The full scope comprised the overhaul of capital plant, works to the external façade and internal CAT A refurbishment works. Two new entrance halls were incorporated that featured reclaimed lighting, artisan metalwork and high end joinery. A new under floor HVAC system was installed to maximise the limited floor to ceiling height and efficient slim line LED lighting to three floors. As well as the new infrastructure, cycle and shower facilities were added to the existing basement, linked to a new public realm upgrade, including a stunning piazza with granite paving and planting.
The SKA rating programme enables building owners and occupiers to measure 100% of the environmental performance of an office fit-‐out, measuring only what is undertaken to add value to your property (rather than the base build). SKA
comprises more than a hundred ‘good practice’ measures covering energy and CO2 emissions, waste, water, materials, pollution, wellbeing and transport. An example of a good practice measure is that when wooden flooring is stripped out, it should be sent for re-‐use to a salvage yard instead of to landfill.
Awards are labeled as Bronze, Silver and Gold, so BW and Holborn Gate is delighted to have achieved the highest accolade.
