CW Plant, the nationwide plant hire organisation, has placed an order for a fleet of Generac VB9 mobile lighting sets destined for their brand new Leeds depot.
The Leeds depot, which commenced trading in October 2015, is based in Armley, Leeds and is part of a significant investment by CW Plant in the North of England, with a Manchester depot set to open in February.
CW Plant chose to supply the Leeds depot with the Generac VB9 lighting system for a variety of reasons. The VB9 incorporates a 170-litre capacity fuel tank with a running time between refuelling of 340 hours, so that the operators could be spared from refuelling each light weekly, to just once a month.
Commenting on this order, CW Plant’s Graham Pollard said, “We already have a number of VB9 lighting sets in our fleet and we have found them to one of the most popular lighting products with our clients. Their versatility means they can be used for construction sites, highway projects and outside events, helping to ensure that our utilisation targets are maintained. In addition, the VB9’s sustainability credentials are always a key component when tendering for projects that need safe and economical lighting.”
The overall environment will benefit from the lengthy time between refueling as this means that there is a reduction in carbon emissions of up to 72%, the equivalent to 0.88tonnes per month. Noise pollution will also be kept down to an absolute as the engine is fitted into a whisper quiet sound proof canopy.
Illumination is via 4 no. metal halide lamps and the operators will be able to accurately direct lighting to individual sources via a routable mast through 340°. The VB9 remains stable in windy conditions having certification stability up to 100Km/h.
Charles Wilson Engineers Ltd (CW Plant) was established in 1979 in Hertfordshire. The company has developed into a key specialist hirer of plant and tools with a network of depots. Charles Wilson also has individual divisions for: lighting, super silenced generators, materials handling, powered access equipment, safety training, pumps, portable air conditioners and traffic management.
