RECENT INVESTMENT SEES LEATHERHEAD SPECTATORS SHELTERED

A leading galvanizing firm has teamed up with a specialist designer and builder of bicycle, pedestrian and sports infrastructure to enhance a youth football pitch and offer additional spectator areas.

Edward Howell Galvanizers has processed over 7.8 tonnes of structural steel used by H-B Designs to create sheltered Curl Stadia seating with a capacity of 120, which have been installed at Leatherhead Youth Football Club in Surrey as part of the ground’s improvements following investment from Mole Valley DC and the Football Foundation.

Charlotte Hill-Baldwin, Sales and Marketing Manager at H-B Designs, explained: “Our Curl Stadia structures provided the club with fresh and Brunellian-style seating which has already received hugely positive feedback from the youth players, spectators and visitors of the club. We pride ourselves on only using sustainable materials to manufacture our products, including timber and galvanized steel, and we highly recommend steel galvanized on all of our Curl buildings due to its inherent sustainability and overall lifetime costs.

“Architecturally, using galvanized steel not only helps us to ensure our own sustainable principles are 4R compliant in terms of being able to relocate, renovate, reuse, and recycle them, but also that they offer the client minimal ongoing and often costly maintenance requirements. Our products are guaranteed a 25 year life span, and we use the team at Edward Howell for all of our projects as they understand our high standards, are efficient and reliable.” Wedge 2

Jim Lindsay, Commercial Manager at Edward Howell Galvanizers, added: “We were thrilled to have been a part of this project with H-B Designs. The sheltered seating areas look fantastic and we’re sure they’ll be enjoyed by visitors of the Leatherhead Youth Football Club for many years.”

General Manager of Leatherhead FC, Nick Brown, and Chairman, Dennis Crema, who wanted to create sheltered seating for 100 people at the ground, worked closely with the club’s Voluntary Project Manager to create the two identical Curl Stadia. It also advised of exact locations for the best line of sight, and positioned the seating at either side of the player pitch entrance.
