Street CraneXpress picks up prestigious gold award @TheSCXGroup

Sheffield based Street CraneXpress has been presented with a prestigious gold prize at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) awards.

The crane specialist – part of the SCX Group – has achieved the award for their commitment to maintaining an excellent health and safety record.

The RoSPA Awards scheme is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas. Judges consider entrants’ overarching occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

Dave Kilner, assurance manager at the SCX Group, said: “The RoSPA Awards are the most prestigious in the world of occupational health and safety so we are very proud to have been recognised with a gold award. As a new entrant to the RoSPA scheme, a gold award is the highest standard we could have achieved.

“We take health and safety very seriously at SCX. The types of projects we are involved with could become very dangerous if we did not have particular measures in place to ensure our engineers, our customers and the public are protected from potential harm.”

SCX is a family-run business founded 45 years ago and is based in Roman Ridge Road, Wincobank. It is renowned for being asked to design, build and install the retractable roofs over Wimbledon’s two premier tennis courts. The group has continued to grow and bought premises in nearby Tyler Street in 2016 for use by one of its three companies, Street CraneXpress, which undertakes overhead crane maintenance and repairs.

SCX was recently granted the right to use the internationally famous mark of Made in Sheffield in recognition of its commitment to quality and excellence.
