Pixalux LED double sided illuminated shelves enhance the brand image of Bamford
Bamford the custom watch company has just opened its first store targeted to male grooming opposite the Bank of England.
Enrico Galliani from Crawford & Gray Architects had the challenge of transforming the small historical building into an elegant store. He said, “We have been looking for some time for a shelving product which could offer full flexibility and integrated lighting. Pixalux answered perfectly to these requirements and their LED illuminated shelves integrate beautifully into our design.”
The brand image was a key part of the design and elegant bespoke black wooden cabinets where designed to make maximize the use of the space taking into account the high ceiling. As the majority of the products were black it was critical that the display was well light.
All shelves were illuminated on both sides, throwing light on to the products from above and below. The shelves are supported on adjustable brackets built into the side panels, which also serve to provide power to the shelves. This means that the shelves can be moved up and down without having to worry about electrical cables. To change the shelf you simply move the shelf supports to the new position and the power is automatically picked up when the shelf is placed onto the supports.
Pixalux UK worked with the joinery company and the project was installed by Purple Shopfitters.
The store manager stated that this was the easiest display system she had worked with and loved how the products were well illuminated.
The final design is extremely elegant with black uprights recessed into the wooden panels, and the shelf supports can easily be repositioned.
In this case the architect specified a warm white 4000 kelvin colour temperature for the shelves with an attractive black profile edge which worked extremely well with the dark wood work.
