Details of the past – winner of today
Not Only White has won the iF DESIGN AWARD 2018 and the Red Dot Award 2018 with the Aim basin. With his reinterpretation of nostalgia in a contemporary context, Dutch designer Joost van der Vecht has written history by winning these prestigious awards.
“Give details of the past form and meaning again.” With this brief Dutch designer Joost van der Vecht studied the characteristics of basin design throughout the last century, with the result being the Aim washbasin.
The essential edge detail on the outside anchors the sleekness of the overall look. The inside of the bowl is soft and rounded which is extended into detail in the almost invisible voulting of the overflow. In order to accentuate the fluidity in the finer details, solid surface material Cristalplant was chosen for Aim.
The black soft touch coating creates tactility and interest to the base of the bowl, a design element which is often hidden.
The towel rack, available in white and black powder coated steel, completes the Aim as the new interpretation of nostalgia.
The iF DESIGN AWARD and Red Dot Award seal this excellent design, which now will be an inspiration for the future.
