Planet, People & Product, Humanscale leads the Way in Sustainable Design for Clerkenwell Design Week 2022

Humanscale, the leading designer and manufacturer of high-performance ergonomic products that improve the health and comfort of work-life, has announced its participation in Clerkenwell Design Week 2022. The move reflects Humanscale’s ongoing desire to encourage architects, designers, building project and facilities managers to re-appraise how they design for people and planet.

At Humanscale, every internal decision is evaluated to minimise the impact to the Earth. To date, 26 Humanscale products have been certified net positive by The International Living Future Institute – meaning any time they are made, the planet is measurably better off. Smart Ocean and Liberty Ocean chairs utilise material from discarded fishing nets, pulled directly from the ocean. The nets are transformed into plastic pellets and then used to manufacture the chairs. In the interest of transparency, the materials for each product are listed on the Declare Product Database and proudly displayed in Humanscale showrooms.

Visitors to the Showroom will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the brand’s design heritage whilst gaining an up to date look at the company’s ground-breaking work around environmental stewardship. Products at the Showroom include NeatCharge, Humanscale’s innovative cable free charger for mobile devices which will be launched at Clerkenwell Design Week.

Humanscale has teamed up with Square Mile Farms who put urban farms into the heart of cities where people live and work. In the showroom there will be two of their farms providing Humanscale visitors with fresh, healthy zero travel miles produce. At the end of the three days the farms will be harvested providing herbs for end of the festival drinks.
