LEXiCON partnership to deliver key data @coBuilderUK

coBuilder and CPA enter into a strategic partnership to deliver key data to the UK construction industry via LEXiCON.

The Construction Products Association (CPA) are leading the development and implementation of LEXiCON, the plain language approach to product data definition and exchange in the UK. As part of this development, a key source of product information requirements comes from the Harmonised European Standards (hENs). coBuilder have worked for a number of years to develop digital content relating to these standards, and have supported the LEXiCON development by providing their significant template content from these standards, free to use within LEXiCON. This provides a firm footing for the consistent use of product data across the UK’s construction industry that is also aligned to the rest of the European Union.

Alex Small, BIM and Digital Platforms Manager at Tata Steel said ‘As a major global steel manufacturer, we want to ensure our product data is structured and named in a manner that our customers can easily digest. We are supporting the LEXiCON initiative to deliver consistent and agreed Product Data Templates to be used by the UK and European construction industries. Being able to adopt one template structure for each product type across different European countries and languages is absolutely vital for the delivery of BIM requirements.

Lars Chr. Fredenlund, CEO of coBuilder explained: “The partnership with CPA will support coBuilder’s work in Europe and in the UK. Our www.goBIM.com platform helps manufacturers deliver accurate data, which ultimately supports LEXiCON. The Product Data Sheets that the manufacturers create and host in goBIM enable the supply chain to ensure the accurate delivery of COBie, FM or specification data.”
