The first UK manufactured shower tray incorporating energy-saving waste water heat recovery for showers (WWHRS) technology is now available. Introducing the Recoup HeatDeck™, a shower tray using Mira Showers’ Flight technology integrated with a high-performance Recoup copper heat exchanger.

As the newest product from leading WWHRS specialist Recoup Energy Solutions, the Recoup HeatDeck™ saves up to *40% of the energy per shower by using cold water preheated by the energy from waste shower water to reduce the demand for domestic hot water (DHW). This impressive energy saving will help lower household bills for the end-user, while reducing carbon emissions and improving SAP and EPC scores. Helping house builders, developers, housing associations and homeowners achieve energy reduction goals as we move towards Net Zero.
Head of Technical at Recoup Energy Solutions says:
“Our NEW energy-saving HeatDeck shower tray will integrate with any shower incorporating a thermostatic mixing valve (TMV) or Mira Showers’ Heatloop™ electric shower. As electric showers are not usually compatible with WWHRS, this combination is an industry game changer. It enables straight forward upgrades for new properties and an ideal retrofit solution for existing housing stock decarbonisation.”

Electric showers are usually considered unsafe to use with the passive technology unless the flow and temperature are actively controlled. Mira Showers’ Heatloop™, the first WWHRS compatible electric shower, has been specially engineered to create a safe, efficient, high-performance, temperature stabilised shower to fill this need.
Designed for new builds, retrofit, and as an upgrade solution for existing shower trays, Recoup HeatDeck™ installation is easy for all scenarios including ground floor and apartment dwellings; the showering experience is not impacted, and there is no end-user interaction or planned maintenance required. The shower tray is currently available in two sizes with standard white gloss or Mira Flight Safe anti-slip finish. Both comprise BioCote® technology providing up to 99.9% reduced bacteria & mould growth.
The Recoup HeatDeck shower tray joins Recoup Energy Solutions’ WWHRS product range. A portfolio that already features in tens of thousands of UK homes.
Note: *The amount of energy and carbon saved per shower is dependent on the installation method, flow rate, and the water heater fuel type for the property.

Further Information
How Recoup HeatDeck™ WWHRS Works
The warm shower water that has only lost a few degrees of temperature runs through the Recoup HeatDeck™, up to 90% of shower heat energy goes down the drain. The heat exchanger transfers heat energy from the warm shower water to incoming cold mains water preheating it. This preheated water reaches around 25°C and is sent to the cold side of the shower and/or water heater in the property. This provision of water at an increased temperature reduces the demand for hot water in the shower, meaning less energy is needed to produce the hot water temperature required.
